X Factor has a new ‘jukebox’ twist for the live shows
The X Factor live shows begin this weekend and producers have announced a brand new element to the show in the form of a jukebox.
The audition episodes have come to a close and the X Factor judges have now selected their final 12 contestants. It is now time for the live shows, as the contestants from each category battle for their place to stay in the competition.
This year something new has been added to the mix: a jukebox! The X Factor shows usually incorporate a theme for each week, but this year the themes will be determined by an onstage, mechanical jukebox.
At the end of the results show on a Sunday, a special guest will join host Dermot O’Leary to spin the jukebox wheel. The following week’s theme will therefore be randomly selected, rather than decided on by producers of the show, adding an element of uncertainty and excitement to the programme.
Here are some of the themes that are up for the taking on the jukebox:
- Boy Band vs Girl Band
And last, but certainly not least…
- Louis Loves (the Louis Walsh collection)
We will be keeping our fingers crossed that the wheel lands on that one.
The first live show’s theme will be decided by X Factor producers as usual, and this weekend the contestants need to perform songs that relate to the theme: ‘Express Yourself’. The singers are required to put on a performance that showcases who they are as artists, choosing a musical number that expresses their own personal style.
The two acts who fail to impress, and receive the fewest number of votes, will be forced to face a sing-off, and Nicole Scherzinger, Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh will decide who must leave the show. No pressure contestants!
The X Factor live shows begin Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
