Which DC superhero is about to come out as gay?
A character on The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be coming out as gay this season.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s press tour yesterday (Thursday August 11th), executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced: “One of the characters on one of the shows is going to be exploring their sexuality and coming out. We’re very excited about that”.
However, the producers of the CW / DC superhero shows have declined to reveal which character will be at the centre of the storyline, and whether they’re male or female.
“It is a significant character”, EP Greg Berlanti said. “The only reason we wouldn’t [say] is we really want the audience to enjoy the character developments and not necessarily be ahead of the storyline”, he continued.
The news comes soon after the announcement that CW Seed has picked up Freedom Fighters: The Ray – a new animated series about a titular DC hero who will be openly gay.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens when Arrow returns Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET; The Flash returns Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET; Supergirl returns Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET; and Legends of Tomorrow returns Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
