Vicky Pattison addresses rumours about hosting Blind Date on Channel 5
Vicky Pattison has responded to claims that she will be presenting the Blind Date revival show on Channel 5.
The former ITV series, originally hosted by the late Cilla Black, is set to return to television screens after ending over a decade ago.
A source previously told The Sun newspaper: “Blind Date is the original dating show and it’s huge news to bring it back.
“It’s a classic format that will be rebooted to make it young, sexy and modern. Expect sparks to fly.
“In an age of Tinder, you have got to earn the right to love on this show.”
The iconic dating series will be moving to Channel 5 this year and it has been reported that Vicky Pattison is favourite to front the programme.
The former Geordie Shore star is no stranger to presenting these days, after appearing on Loose Women as a panellist and hosting the I’m A Celebrity spin-off show last year.
Vicky has now spoken up to address the rumours herself, admitting that she has not yet got the job but she is keeping her “fingers crossed”.
She told Heat magazine: “I’m as thrown by the rumours as everyone else. I’ve got 30 WhatsApps, all like, ‘Congrats.’
“I can’t bring myself to reply because what can I say? I’ve not got the job, it’s embarrassing. But fingers crossed!
“And I love Cilla’s son for saying I’d do a good job.”
The new Blind Date is apparently set to air on Friday nights and it has been said that the classic series will be “updated for modern times” with an initial six episode run.
Alongside Vicky, other celebrities on the rumour list for hosting have been singer Kylie Minogue, TV and radio presenter Graham Norton and Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley.
Blind Date is set to air later this year on Channel 5.
