Saw 8 to begin filming in September
Jigsaw is back and ready to terrorise again. The next installment in the horror series is set to start filming in Toronto this September.
The Saw franchise, begun by director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell back in 2004, has now spawned seven stomach-churning, terrifying feature films.
The main premise of each film is the mind-bending torture of a handful of selected victims. John Kramer a.k.a. Jigsaw chooses victims according to wrongs he believes they have committed and then places them in remote locations, caught in traps that they must attempt to escape. Spoiler alert… a lot of the time they don’t escape.
The eighth in the franchise will be titled Saw: Legacy but it is not know yet whether it will feature returning characters, or in which direction the plot will go. The previous film, ironically entitled Saw: The Final Chapter, saw Detective Mark Hoffman continuing Jigsaw’s games.
Saw: Legacy will be based on a script by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger. No release date has been announced.
