Sam Faiers admits why she chose to give birth on The Mummy Diaries
Sam Faiers has revealed why she decided to share the birth of her daughter Rosie on The Mummy Diaries.
The former TOWIE star welcomed her second child with partner Paul Knightly last November, and the birth was filmed by sister Billie Faiers so the special moment could be included in their ITVBe series.
Speaking to OK! Online, Sam defended her decision to broadcast the birth on TV.
When asked if it was difficult to air something so personal, she replied: “Not really, where the nature of the show is Mummy Diaries, I felt like it was such a big part of this series.”
Sister Billie added: “It wouldn’t make a great show if we didn’t give it everything
“If we’re not gonna show this, people are going to switch off and think this is boring.”
Sam continued: “I feel like giving birth and having a baby is the most precious time ever in my life.
“You’re gonna film it anyway, so no matter what happened, Mummy Diaries or not, I would have had everyone filming it.”
She added: “Where I do what I do, I wanted to share it. Obviously I’ve held back a lot of my personal pictures and certain parts of the footage is mine to keep, but genuinely most of it is that we like sharing how proud we are of our families and babies – we just like to share.”
Talking about the day Rosie was born, Billie reminisced: “It was amazing, the footage of Samantha in labour and giving birth is so raw.
“She hadn’t really taken anything out apart from obviously, you don’t see everything.
“It is amazing and I think like the whole concept of the show without having given them… everything just wouldn’t work, that scene is just amazing.”
Sam and Billie Faiers: The Mummy Diaries continues Wednesday at 9pm on ITVBe.
