MCM 2015: ‘Falling Skies’ Cast Tease Fifth Season
As part of our special MCM London Comic Con coverage, we met up with Will Patton (Dan Weaver), Moon Bloodgood (Anne Glass) and Drew Roy (Hal Mason) from the cast of the thrilling sci-fi Falling Skies at a press conference to tease the upcoming fifth series. Falling Skies hits UK screens on June 30 on FOX.
The cast started by reflecting on their characters throughout the five seasons. Moon discussed Anne’s transformation as she became a parent, Drew discussed evil Hal (and his taste for women) while Will said Dan had “drastically changed” after revealing more and more of himself to the group.
The upcoming fifth and final season was on the edge of everyone’s tongue, and the cast were filled with excitement for the final instalment of the much-loved saga.
“It’s looking bleak for Tom Mason at the end of last season,” said Drew, referring to a fourth series finale that saw Tom Mason alone in the middle of space after daughter Lexi sacrificed herself to destroy the power core. “But he’s Tom Mason – he’s not gonna end up on Mars, ‘cos then he won’t have us. He’ll come back to Earth, but how he gets back is a mystery.”
The cliffhanger final words of season four, in which Tom appeared to be speaking to another alien race, will be as important as suspected: “The final words of last season, that’s going to be the pivot of what’s gonna happen in the new season. It’s touch and go throughout – all the way to the finale,” Drew confirmed.
“Will and I get lots of great stuff this year,” added Moon, “It’s not so much that we say a lot, we just have a lot of these really sweet moments because Tom is gone a lot. It’s always the case, he’s always gone!”
There’s apparently more for Hal too, as Drew excitedly shared that the work he gets to do midway through the fifth season rivalled how much he enjoyed performing the ‘Evil Hal’ arc in season three.
Asked what television shows they would like to join now that Falling Skies is over, Will immediately quipped, “Downton Abbey,” and confirmed that he’d like to be downstairs, where they have all the fun.
Well, we hope that can be possible, especially if we’re about to lose this fantastic cast after the fifth and final series. A Southern Gentleman on Downton… it could happen. Meanwhile, how pumped is everyone about season five of Falling Skies? Roll on June 30.
