Marvel Confirms ‘Jessica Jones’ Premiere Date
Marvel has confirmed that Jessica Jones (formerly titled A.K.A. Jessica Jones) will premiere on Netflix in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The second of Marvel’s Defenders series, stars Breaking Bad‘s Krysten Ritter in the leading role of Jessica Jones, a former superhero who now owns a private detective agency. After prematurely ending her career as a superhero due to a traumatic incident, Jones now works on cases involving those with super abilities in New York City.
Jessica Jones follows the release of Daredevil in April this year, the first of Marvel’s team of crime fighters known as The Defenders. There will also be individual Netflix series about the two other members of the epic superhero team up: Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Following these two series, there are plans for a television series about all four of the Defenders working as a team, as well as continuations of the individual series. It was reported that the initial plan was to have one Marvel series every two months on the streaming service.
As well as Ritter, Jessica Jones also stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Doctor Who actor David Tennant as the villain Zebediah Kilgrave, Carrie-Anne Moss as “Harper” and Rachael Taylor as Patsy “Hellcat” Walker.
