Love Island‘s Cara De La Hoyde has announced she is pregnant.
The reality television star has revealed she is expecting her first child with her ex-boyfriend Nathan Massey, whom she met on the ITV2 dating series last year.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Cara confirmed her pregnancy but also insisted she has no intention of reuniting with Nathan: “It’s a shame and a sad situation. I know a lot of people will think, well you’re going to have a baby together so just stay together – but we’re not going to do that just to look like the perfect couple.”
The winners of Love Island called it quits last month, when Nathan announced on Instagram: “The worst feeling in the world is when you know that you both love each other, but still you can’t be together ! Me and Cara have split, we’ve had the summer of our lives together, but sadly come to a end, I wish her the best for the future 💔”
And Cara recently went into more detail on how it all ended. Talking to Reveal magazine, the celebrity suggested that they should have taken things slower in hindsight.
“People would tell us we were moving too quick and, on reflection, they were right,” she said. “When we came off Love Island, we were thrown into this world where we were known only as a couple, and everything centred around being that couple.”
Cara explained how she had moved to Essex to be with her man but her missing home impacted negatively on their relationship.
She said: “I didn’t have any of my real friends or family around me, whereas Nath did. So I was in the flat all the time, and you just get agitated.
“I’d end up coming home to Mum’s for a couple of days or going to stay with Olivia [Buckland, Love Island co-star] because we’d need to spend time apart, away from the arguments.”
Describing how she eventually reached breaking point as the arguments worsened, Cara eventually decided to walk away from the romance.
She confessed: “We haven’t really spoken to each other since then. My mum went to pick my stuff up from the flat.”
Love Island returns soon to ITV2.
