Jameela Jamil confirms Tahani Al-Jamil was the mutual friend who set up Harry and Meghan
Jameela Jamil has joked her character Tahani Al-Jamil on hit sitcom The Good Place is the “mutual friend” responsible for setting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle up.
Former BBC Radio 1 star Jamil plays British philanthropist and socialite Tahani, who loves to name drop her celebrity pals, in the hit show. The Good Place airs on NBC in the US and Netflix in the UK, where it has been a surprise hit. The show also stars Kristen Bell and Ted Danson.
Responding to a tweet from a fan which said “I bet tahani al-jamil is the mutual friend that set harry and meghan up”, Jamil replied: “100 percent factual.”
She provided further follow up, with: “We were all in Johnny Depps mansion, watching my best friend beyonce perform a song about my other friend Taylor.”
100 percent factual. We were all in Johnny Depps mansion, watching my best friend beyonce perform a song about my other friend Taylor. https://t.co/m8Z7OVgVYG

This obviously completely true story supports an interview Prince Harry gave shortly after the wedding announcement. He told the BBC “We were introduced, actually, by a mutual friend – we’ll protect her privacy – but it was literally through her.”
The Good Place tells the story of Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), a woman who discovers she has been mistakenly sent to heaven.
