Hollyoaks’ Danny Mac is confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing
Hollyoaks star Danny Mac is the latest celebrity to be confirmed for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The announcement was made yesterday on the official Strictly Come Dancing Twitter page.
Danny Mac is the seventh celebrity to join the 2016 series of Strictly Come Dancing, after Ed Balls, Will Young, Laura Whitmore, Ore Oduba and Melvin Odoom. Eight further celebrities are expected to be announced in the coming days as the reality talent show prepares for a new series in September.
Danny, who played Dodger Savage on Hollyoaks for four years between 2011 and 2015, said: “I’m as terrified as I am excited! I’ve done a few bits and bobs of secret filming for the show and it’s all become very real now.”
“I can’t believe that I am now part of the biggest show on television, and I cannot wait to get started.”
Despite training at theatre school and spending four years appearing in Wicked on the West End, Danny claims he does not have an advantage as he hasn’t danced since.
“I first danced at college when I was 18. That was the first time I’d ever worn a pair of tights or a dance belt! I worked hard at it, but it’s safe to say when I graduated all my dance gear went in a bag in the loft and hasn’t been seen since.”
Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One in September.
