Guardians of the Galaxy writer working on live action ‘Detective Pikachu’ film
Well, this is exciting. According to Variety, not only are we Pokémon fans getting a very cool new live action movie to fuel our Pokémon Go addiction, but said movie will be written by the very talented Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Fish Hooks).
Entitled Detective Pikachu, the film will take its basis from the upcoming Great Detective Pikachu video game. And while we don’t know too many details about that game yet, we do have this ultra cute, Sherlock-inspired trailer for it:
With Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, and next, Captain Marvel and the third Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes movie on her resume, we know that Perlman has the comedy-hero-crime chops for the Detective Pikachu project.
Meanwhile, Hirsch, who created Disney cult favourite Gravity Falls, seems a perfect fit for the off-beat animation.
A release date for Detective Pikachu has not yet been set, but we’ll have the news for you when it is!
