Game of Thrones Casts Euron Greyjoy
The Game of Thrones hysteria just keeps on climbing. According to the Game of Thrones community site Watchers on the Wall, Danish actor Pilou Asbæk (The Borgias) has been cast as Euron Greyjoy.
The uncle of Theon (Alfie Allen) and captain of the Silence, a ship manned entirely by crew members whose tongues he yanked out, the addition of Euron seems to lend no helping hand to global image of the House of Greyjoy, who still somehow, seem to be more lowly than the lannisters.
Alongside the above, the one-eyed Euron is allegedly famed for raping and plundering wherever he drops anchor and is known to be a wildly unpredictable man, who takes great delight in playing vicious mind games and waging psychological warfare on anyone around him.
Obviously, not much is known about the season six but if the upcoming season of Game of Thrones follows the Greyjoy storyline from George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels, Asbæk’s Euron is likely to play a pivotal role in the series going forward.
Rumours surrounding the Danish actor’s involvement began when sources spotted Asbæk shooting what is referred to as “A Feast for Crows” pivotal Kingsmoot scene in Northern Ireland this week, alongside [actress] Gemma Whelan.
Asbæk has appeared in roles on the big and small screen, including Lucy, The Borgias and Borgen and he’ll next be seen as Pontius Pilate in the upcoming remake of Ben-Hur opposite Jack Huston, and he’ll be joined by other newcomers to the HBO drama, Ian McShane in a yet-unknown role and Max von Sydow, who will take over the role of Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) mentor, the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven.
But unfortunately folks, you’re going to have to wait until April 2016 to find out all the details but in true Game of Thrones style, they’ll be leading us on until then.
