It’s Wes Craven Season over on Horror Channel this January, with one of his iconic films airing every Saturday at 9pm.
Horror addicts can begin 2018 the right way by enjoying four of Craven’s greatest works: The Serpent and the Rainbow, Shocker, The People Under the Stairs and My Soul to Take.
From slashers and supernatural shockers to gory satires, this month’s showings lend viewers an overview of the legendary director’s career and his versatile and long-standing contributions to the horror genre.
Take a look at the scream-filled line-up below:
The Serpent and the Rainbow: Saturday, January 6, 9pm

Wes Craven Season kicks off tonight with one of his strongest and darkest masterpieces, The Serpent And the Rainbow. This supernatural thriller, based on Wade Davis’ novel, tells the tale of Dennis (Bill Pullman), a Harvard researcher who travels to Haiti to study a mysterious voodoo powder that places people into a zombified state. However, as Dennis begins to uncover the secrets behind this strange drug, he slowly finds himself trapped in a living nightmare…
Shocker: Saturday, January 13, 9pm

This slasher/thriller is (quite literally) electrifying. The film follows a murderous TV repairman named Horace Pinker (Mitch Pileggi), who is eventually caught and sentenced to death by the electric chair for his horrific crimes. A deal with the devil, however, allows the killer to live on as electricity after death, meaning he can now take revenge on those who brought him down.
The People Under the Stairs: Saturday, January 20, 9pm

On the 20th, make sure to catch some real gory goodness with The People Under the Stairs. When young Fool (Brandon Adams) and his friends break into his landlords’ house in hope of pocketing some gold, they could never have anticipated what they might find inside. To their absolute horror, they discover cages of deformed children kept in captivity under the stairs. Will they be able to make an escape, or will they face the same gruesome fate?
My Soul to Take: Saturday, January 27, 9pm

The Wes Craven Season ends with on of the director’s more recent works: My Soul to Take (2010). In the small town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer’s oath to come back and murder the seven children born on the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again, leading residents to wonder if the legend is true. Bug (Max Thieriot), plagued by nightmares all his life, was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane, and it’s up to him to save his friends from the monster’s return and face an evil that will not rest.
The Rainbow and the Serpent airs tonight at 9pm on Horror Channel.
