Dawson Creek’s James Van Der Beek cast as tech billionaire in new Sky sitcom
Dawson’s Creek star and all-round good guy James Van Der Beek is the latest American actor to throw himself into the frightening world of British comedy.
It has been announced today that the man formerly known as Dawson Leery will play an American billionaire by the name of Trent Zebrisky in new Sky 1 sitcom Carters Get Rich, which follows the daily lives of a British family whose lives get turned upside down when 11-year-old son Harry creates a multi-million pound app.
Intriguingly named ‘Honc’, the app is devised by Harry for geeky kids like himself who don’t know how to talk to girls. When Honc becomes the next big social networking success, it’s bought for £10M by Van Der Beek’s Zebrisky.
Rhashan Stone (Agatha Raisin), Kerry Godliman (Derek), John Finnemore (Miranda), Rhianna Merralls (Camping) and newcomer Rio Chambers also star in the sitcom, which is produced by Roughcut TV and will debut this autumn.
Since winning our hearts in Dawson’s Creek, Van Der Beek has been starring in CBS’s CSI: Cyber, while also making appearances in Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23, The Big Bang Theory, Ugly Betty, One Tree Hill, and of course, this meme:
