Chris Evans & Jared Leto for The Girl on the Train?
While we may all still be wishing for that DC/Marvel cross over movie, it looks like those dreams will never come true. However, fans of Captain America and the Joker can see these characters real-life alter egos coming together if the rumours about The Girl on the Train movie are true.
Both Chris Evans (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) are reportedly being eyed to star as the male leads in the film adaptation of the book that swept the best sellers list earlier this year.
The Paula Hawkins’ bestselling novel already has three confirmed cast members in the form of Emily Blunt (Sicario), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and Haley Bennett (The Equalizer), with Blunt set to play the novel’s protagonist Rachel, a woman who fantasises during her daily commute about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day.
The plot of the text follows the 32-year-old alcoholic who is going through a difficult time in her life, having had her ex-husband leave her after an affair with his mistress (now wife) Anna, who is played by Ferguson in the feature. Her idealism over the couple serves as a distraction until she sees a news story about the woman’s (played by Bennett) sudden disappearance and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.
Within the casting Evans is allegedly being sought after for the role of Rachel’s ex-husband, while Leto is being eyed to play the other half of the perfect couple – Scott.
Currently, potential issues preventing their involvement with The Girl on the Train are to do with scheduling. However, if the deals can be pulled off this is one heck of an impressive cast for the movie which is being directed by Tate Taylor (The Help).
The Girl on the Train is currently in pre-production and can be expected in cinemas from late 2016.
