Celebs Go Dating’s Stephanie Pratt and Joey Essex reveal the real reason they broke up
Celebs Go Dating stars Stephanie Pratt and Joey Essex have unveiled the truth about their split.
It was recently reported that the celebrity pair had ended their relationship only a month after hitting things off on E4’s Celebs Go Dating.
The series was originally designed to allow celebrities the chance to date ‘normal’ people, following six stars in their quest for love. However, completely abandoning the point of the show, Joey and Steph ditched their dates for each other instead, much to the disappointment of dating agents Nadia Essex and Eden Blackman. The Only Way Is Essex and Made In Chelsea couple quickly fell for one another and it wasn’t long until the duo had announced they were official.
Yet, things didn’t stay sweet for long it seems. According to The Sun newspaper, Joey split from Stephanie over having to spend most of his time in Chelsea rather than Essex.
A source told the tabloid: “He genuinely fell for her and even though they were an unlikely couple, he hoped it could turn into something more serious.
“But he realised it was never going to work with him spending so much time away from home.”
Now Joey and Steph have spoken out on the matter themselves, confirming they have indeed separated.
Steph told Star magazine: “We split it up. It sounds silly, but it was because of the long distance. It was only Essex, but we’re both busy. He was in New York and then I was in LA. There was no argument or fight.”
Joey added: “When you’re working constantly and trying to see each other, it can be quite frustrating. And I’ve had a lot of work recently. We had to just talk on the phone a lot. ”
Maybe if they’d stuck to the original format of the show they wouldn’t have gotten themselves into this mess!
The Only Way Is Essex continues Sunday at 10pm on ITVBe.
Made In Chelsea continues Monday at 9pm on E4.
