Boy George slams the X Factor and calls Honey G a “joke”
The Voice‘s Boy George has criticised the X Factor for allowing contestant Honey G to progress this far into the competition.
Honey G is now entering into the third week of the live shows and although Sharon Osbourne received quite some backlash for putting her through at the Judges’ Houses, the controversial rapper has not even come close to the sing-off so far.
Love her or hate her, everyone seems to be talking about Honey G – including Boy George…
The Culture Club singer and former coach on The Voice spoke about the ITV programme on Good Morning Britain this morning (October 19), calling the show “ridiculous”.
He told Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan: “I think she’d be a great Britain’s Got Talent contestant. For a singing show, it’s ridiculous.”
Boy George referenced last weekend’s results, saying: “The fact that Freddy got sent home and other people got sent home and she got kept, it’s like a joke.”
Comparing the X Factor to The Voice, the star explained that when the public start voting “you lose control and that is a horrible feeling”.
“That is why pop music is so bad because the public are dictating the art form and no body is individual any more.”
At the weekend, Boy George also took to Twitter to air his feelings about the X Factor:
Honey G over Freddie? Honey G over anyone? Please, this is not a singing show #XtraFactorLive

These shows create performers, great one’s sometimes, but ‘stars’, ‘artists’ -hmm!? Not so convinced! https://t.co/BhGFw7b5Gs
