Blind Date makes history with show’s first ever drag queen special
Three glamorous drag queens will appear as contestants in a Blind Date first this weekend.
He was the genius behind drag legend Lily Savage, but this Saturday Paul O’Grady will be welcoming some of the drag queens of today on to Channel 5’s Blind Date.
Marking the occasion with Lily’s iconic leopard print coat, the host will welcome criminologist Luke to the show to interview three potential suitors for a romantic date.
However, this week there’s a bit of a twist. What Luke won’t know is there will in fact be three fabulous drag queens waiting for him on the other side of the wall.
The three queens gracing our screens in Saturday’s episode will be Shyanne O’Shea from Essex, Trampagne from Portsmouth and Anna Phylactic (get it?) from Manchester.
“I’m so happy that we have included drag queens on this series of Blind Date. It’s about time – it is 2018 after all,” Paul O’Grady said in a statement.
“Having been a drag artiste myself, I’m very proud to be part of this Blind Date first.”
Blind Date airs Saturday (July 28) at 8pm on Channel 5.
